¹⁷ Why, you—you have hated discipline,+

And you keep throwing my words behind you.+

¹² And you will have to say: “How I have hated discipline+ and my heart has disrespected even reproof!+

¹⁸ The one neglecting discipline [comes to] poverty and dishonor,+ but the one keeping a reproof is the one that is glorified.+

²⁵ See that YOU do not beg off from him who is speaking.+ For if they did not escape who begged off from him who was giving divine warning upon earth,+ much more shall we not if we turn away from him who speaks from the heavens.+
