24 If I have put gold* as my confidence,

Or to gold* I have said, ‘You are my trust!’+

14 From men, [by] your hand, O Jehovah,+

From men of [this] system+ of things,* whose share is in [this] life,+

And whose belly you fill with your concealed treasure,+

Who are satisfied with sons+

And who do lay up for their children what they leave over.+

7 Here is the able-bodied man that does not put God as his fortress,+

But that trusts in the abundance of his riches,+

That takes shelter in adversities by him.+

10 Do not put YOUR trust in defrauding,+

Nor become vain in sheer robbery.+

In case the means of maintenance should thrive, do not set YOUR heart [on them].+

23 This is what Jehovah has said: “Let not the wise man brag about himself because of his wisdom,+ and let not the mighty man brag about himself because of his mightiness.+ Let not the rich man brag about himself because of his riches.”+

17 Give orders to those who are rich+ in the present system of things* not to be high-minded,*+ and to rest their hope, not on uncertain riches,+ but on God, who furnishes us all things richly for our enjoyment;+
