¹⁷ Be on YOUR guard against men;+ for they will deliver YOU up to local courts,*+ and they will scourge+ YOU in their synagogues.+

⁹ “As for YOU, look out for yourselves; people will deliver YOU up to local courts,*+ and YOU will be beaten in synagogues+ and be put on the stand before governors and kings for my sake, for a witness* to them.+

¹⁰ But in due season he sent out a slave+ to the cultivators,+ that they might give him some of the fruit of the vineyard.+ The cultivators, however, sent him away empty,+ after beating him up.

¹⁹ And I said, ‘Lord, they themselves well know that I used to imprison+ and flog in one synagogue after another those believing upon you;+
