18 Judah now came near to him and said: “I pray you, my master, please let your slave speak a word in the hearing of my master,+ and do not let your anger+ grow hot against your slave, because it is the same with you as with Pharʹaoh.*+
8 “As for you, Judah,+ your brothers will laud you.+ Your hand will be on the back of the neck of your enemies.+ The sons of your father will prostrate themselves to you.+
3 The sons of Judah were Er+ and Oʹnan+ and Sheʹlah.+ The three were born to him from Shuʹa’s daughter, the Caʹnaan·it·ess. And Er the firstborn of Judah came to be bad in the eyes of Jehovah, so that he put him to death.+
5 But one of the elders says to me: “Stop weeping. Look! The Lion that is of the tribe of Judah,+ the root+ of David,+ has conquered+ so as to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
