3 as I must have you swear by Jehovah,+ the God of the heavens and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Caʹnaan·ites in among whom I am dwelling,+

3 And you must form no marriage alliance with them. Your daughter you must not give to his son, and his daughter you must not take for your son.+

2 from the nations of whom Jehovah had said to the sons of Israel: “YOU must not go in among them,+ and they themselves should not come in among YOU; truly they will incline YOUR heart to follow their gods.”+ It was to them that Solʹo·mon clung+ to love [them].

39 A wife is bound during all the time her husband is alive.+ But if her husband should fall asleep [in death], she is free to be married to whom she wants, only in* [the] Lord.+
