14 And they kept making their life bitter with hard slavery at clay mortar+ and bricks* and with every form of slavery in the field,+ yes, every form of slavery of theirs in which they used them as slaves under tyranny.+
7 And Jehovah added: “Unquestionably I have seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and I have heard their outcry as a result of those who drive them to work; because I well know the pains they suffer.+
6 Moreover, God spoke to this effect, that his seed would be alien residents+ in a foreign land+ and [the people] would enslave them and afflict [them] for four hundred years.+
