5 He now sent messengers to Baʹlaam+ the son of Beʹor at Peʹthor,+ which is by the River*+ of the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying: “Look! A people has come out of Egypt. Look! They have covered the earth as far as one can see,*+ and they are dwelling right in front of me.

15 Abandoning the straight path, they have been misled. They have followed the path of Baʹlaam,+ [the son] of Beʹor, who loved the reward of wrongdoing,+
