18 “You must not preserve a sorceress alive.+

31 “‘Do not turn yourselves to the spirit mediums,*+ and do not consult professional foretellers of events,+ so as to become unclean by them. I am Jehovah YOUR God.

6 “‘As for the soul who turns himself to the spirit mediums+ and the professional foretellers+ of events so as to have immoral intercourse with them, I shall certainly set my face against that soul and cut him off from among his people.+

23 for rebelliousness+ is the same as the sin of divination,+ and pushing ahead presumptuously* the same as [using] uncanny power and teraphim.*+ Since you have rejected the word of Jehovah,+ he* accordingly rejects you from being king.”*+

3 Now Samuel himself had died, and all Israel had proceeded to bewail him and bury him in Raʹmah his own city.+ As for Saul, he had removed the spirit mediums* and the professional foretellers of events from the land.+

19 And in case they should say to YOU people: “Apply to the spiritistic mediums+ or to those having a spirit of prediction who are chirping+ and making utterances in low tones,”* is it not to its God that any people should apply?+ [Should there be application] to dead persons in behalf of living persons?+

12 Beware, brothers, for fear there should ever develop in any one of YOU a wicked heart lacking faith* by drawing away* from the living God;+
