16 And David began to seek the [true] God in behalf of the boy, and David went on a strict fast+ and came in and spent the night and lay down on the earth.+

14 Sanctify a time of fasting.+ Call together a solemn assembly.+ Gather together [the] older men, all the inhabitants of the land,* to the house of Jehovah YOUR God,+ and cry to Jehovah for aid.+
