5 A certain man, a Jew, happened to be in Shuʹshan+ the castle, and his name was Morʹde·cai+ the son of Jaʹir the son of Shimʹe·i the son of Kish a Benʹja·min·ite,+
8On that day King A·has·u·eʹrus* gave to Esther the queen the house of Haʹman,+ the one showing hostility to the Jews;+ and Morʹde·cai himself came in before the king, because Esther had told what he was to her.+
3 For Morʹde·cai the Jew was second+ to King A·has·u·eʹrus* and was great among the Jews and approved by the multitude of his brothers, working for the good of his people and speaking peace+ to all their offspring.
