5 Have you caused your eyes to glance at it, when it is nothing?+ For without fail it makes wings for itself like those of an eagle and flies away toward the heavens.+
24 “No one can slave for two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other,+ or he will stick to the one and despise the other. YOU cannot slave for God and for Riches.*+
15 Then he said to them: “Keep YOUR eyes open and guard against every sort of covetousness,+ because even when a person has an abundance his life does not result from the things he possesses.”+
17 Give orders to those who are rich+ in the present system of things* not to be high-minded,*+ and to rest their hope, not on uncertain riches,+ but on God, who furnishes us all things richly for our enjoyment;+
16 because everything in the world+—the desire of the flesh+ and the desire of the eyes+ and the showy display* of one’s means of life+—does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world.+
