3 At that Je·hoshʹa·phat became afraid+ and set his face to search for Jehovah.+ So he proclaimed a fast+ for all Judah.

9 And on the twenty-fourth day of this month+ the sons of Israel gathered themselves together with fasting+ and with sackcloth+ and dirt+ upon themselves.

3 And in all the different jurisdictional districts,+ wherever the king’s word and his law were reaching, there was great mourning+ among the Jews, and fasting+ and weeping and wailing. Sackcloth+ and ashes+ themselves came to be spread out as a couch for many.
