4 Then he took [the gold]* from their hands, and he formed it+ with a graving tool and proceeded to make it into a molten statue of a calf.+ And they* began to say: “This is your God,* O Israel, who led you up out of the land of Egypt.”+
28 Consequently the king took counsel+ and made two golden calves+ and said to the people:* “It is too much for YOU to go up to Jerusalem. Here is your God,*+ O Israel, that brought you up out of the land of Egypt.”+
29 It was only the sins of Jer·o·boʹam+ the son of Neʹbat, with which he caused Israel to sin,+ that Jeʹhu did not turn aside from following them, [that is,] the golden calves+ of which one was in Bethʹel and one in Dan.+
16 And they kept leaving all the commandments+ of Jehovah their God and proceeded to make for themselves molten statues,+ two calves,+ and to make a sacred pole,+ and they began to bow down to all the army of the heavens+ and to serve Baʹal;+
