38 And it came about that as he was bowing down at the house of Nisʹroch+ his god,*+ A·dramʹme·lech and Shar·eʹzer, his own sons, struck him down with the sword,+ and they themselves escaped to the land of Arʹa·rat.*+ And Eʹsar-hadʹdon+ his son began to reign in place of him.

17 They must be turned back, they will be very much ashamed, those who are putting trust in the carved image,+ those who are saying to a molten image: “YOU are our gods.”*+

28 “But where are your gods* that you have made for yourself?+ Let them rise up if they can save you in the time of your calamity.+ For as the number of your cities your gods have become, O Judah.+

4 Now concerning the eating+ of foods offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing+ in the world,* and that there is no God but one.+
