3 And he will sit as a refiner and cleanser of silver+ and will cleanse the sons of Leʹvi; and he will clarify* them like gold and like silver, and they will certainly become to Jehovah people presenting a gift offering in righteousness.

6 Because of this you are greatly rejoicing, though for a short time, if it must be, you have been distressed by various trials,+ 7 in order that the tested quality of your faith,+ of much greater value than gold that perishes despite its being tested* by fire, may be found a cause for praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.+
