32 So they came to a spot named Geth·semʹa·ne, and he said to his disciples: “Sit down here while I pray.”+ 33 And he took Peter and James and John along with him,+ and he began to feel deeply distressed* and to be greatly troubled. 34 He said to them: “I am* deeply grieved,+ even to death. Stay here and keep on the watch.”+ 35 And going a little way forward, he fell to the ground and began praying that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him. 36 And he said: “Abba,* Father,+ all things are possible for you; remove this cup from me. Yet, not what I want, but what you want.”+

40 On arriving at the place, he said to them: “Carry on prayer so that you do not enter into temptation.”+
