15 Caʹnaan became father to Siʹdon,+ his firstborn, and Heth,+ 16 as well as the Jebʹu·site,+ the Amʹor·ite,+ the Girʹga·shite, 17 the Hiʹvite,+ the Arkʹite, the Siʹnite,

33 Jehovah said further to Moses: “Go on your way from here with the people whom you led up out of the land of Egypt. Journey to the land about which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘To your offspring* I will give it.’+ 2 I will send an angel ahead of you+ and drive out the Caʹnaan·ites, the Amʹor·ites, the Hitʹtites, the Perʹiz·zites, the Hiʹvites, and the Jebʹu·sites.+

7 “When Jehovah your God brings you into the land you are about to enter and take possession of,+ he will also clear away populous nations from before you:+ the Hitʹtites, the Girʹga·shites, the Amʹor·ites,+ the Caʹnaan·ites, the Perʹiz·zites, the Hiʹvites, and the Jebʹu·sites,+ seven nations more populous and mightier than you are.+

10 Joshua then said: “By this you will know that a living God is among you,+ and that he will without fail drive away from before you the Caʹnaan·ites, the Hitʹtites, the Hiʹvites, the Perʹiz·zites, the Girʹga·shites, the Amʹor·ites, and the Jebʹu·sites.+

7 You are Jehovah the true God, who chose Aʹbram+ and brought him out of Ur+ of the Chal·deʹans and gave him the name Abraham.+ 8 You found his heart faithful before you,+ so you made a covenant with him to give him the land of the Caʹnaan·ites, the Hitʹtites, the Amʹor·ites, the Perʹiz·zites, the Jebʹu·sites, and the Girʹga·shites, to give it to his offspring;*+ and you kept your promises, because you are righteous.
