2 Meanwhile, there was a man of Zorʹah+ of the family of the Danʹites,+ whose name was Ma·noʹah.+ His wife was barren and childless.+

24 The woman later gave birth to a son and named him Samson;+ and as the boy grew, Jehovah continued to bless him.

8 Then he struck them down one after the other* with a great slaughter, after which he went down and stayed in a cave* of the crag Eʹtam.

20 And he judged Israel in the days of the Phi·lisʹtines for 20 years.+

30 Samson called out: “Let me* die with the Phi·lisʹtines!” Then he pushed with all his might, and the house fell on the lords and all the people in it.+ So he killed more at his death than he had killed during his life.+
