28 After consultation, the king made two golden calves+ and said to the people: “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here is your God, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.”+ 29 Then he placed one in Bethʹel,+ and the other he put in Dan.+ 30 And this caused them to sin,+ and the people went as far as Dan to worship the one there.

33 Aʹhab also made the sacred pole.*+ Aʹhab did more to offend Jehovah the God of Israel than all the kings of Israel prior to him.
