12 King Je·hoiʹa·chin of Judah went out to the king of Babylon,+ along with his mother, his servants, his princes, and his court officials;+ and the king of Babylon took him captive in the eighth year of his reign.+

14 He took into exile all Jerusalem, all the princes,+ all the mighty warriors, and every craftsman and metalworker*+—he took 10,000 into exile. No one was left behind except the poorest people of the land.+

7 ‘And some of your own sons to whom you will become father will be taken and will become court officials in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”+

24 “‘As surely as I am alive,’ declares Jehovah, ‘even if Co·niʹah*+ son of Je·hoiʹa·kim,+ the king of Judah, were the seal ring on my right hand, I would pull you off from there! 25 I will give you into the hand of those seeking to take your life,* into the hand of those whom you fear, into the hand of King Neb·u·chad·nezʹzar* of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chal·deʹans.+

31 Then in the 37th year of the exile of King Je·hoiʹa·chin+ of Judah, in the 12th month, on the 25th day of the month, King Eʹvil-merʹo·dach of Babylon, in the year he became king, released* King Je·hoiʹa·chin of Judah and brought him out of prison.+ 32 He spoke kindly with him and put his throne higher than the thrones of the other kings who were with him in Babylon.
