9 Then David took up residence in the stronghold, and it was called* the City of David; and David began to build all around from the Mound*+ inward.+

9 Moreover, Uz·ziʹah built towers+ in Jerusalem by the Corner Gate,+ the Valley Gate,+ and the Buttress, and he fortified them.

2 When Hez·e·kiʹah saw that Sen·nachʹer·ib had come and intended to wage war against Jerusalem,

5 Furthermore, with determination he rebuilt the entire broken-down wall and raised towers on it, and outside he made another wall. He also repaired the Mound*+ of the City of David, and he made a large number of weapons* and shields.

33 Ma·nasʹseh+ was 12 years old when he became king, and he reigned for 55 years in Jerusalem.+

14 After this he built an outer wall for the City of David+ west of Giʹhon+ in the valley* and as far as the Fish Gate,+ and he continued it around to Oʹphel,+ and he made it very high. Further, he appointed army chiefs in all the fortified cities in Judah.
