42 “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him: “David’s.”+ 43 He asked them: “How is it, then, that David under inspiration+ calls him Lord, saying, 44 ‘Jehovah said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies beneath your feet”’?+ 45 If, then, David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”+

41 In turn he asked them: “How is it they say that the Christ is David’s son?+ 42 For David himself says in the book of Psalms, ‘Jehovah said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand 43 until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet.”’+ 44 David, therefore, calls him Lord; so how is he his son?”

42 Does the scripture not say that the Christ is coming from the offspring of David+ and from Bethʹle·hem,+ the village where David was?”+
