ANANIAH
(A·na·niʹah) [Jah Has Answered Me].
1. Father of Maaseiah and grandfather to Azariah, who assisted Nehemiah in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.—Ne 3:23.
2. A city inhabited by members of the tribe of Benjamin after the return from exile. (Ne 11:32) It is believed to be the same as Bethany (el-ʽAzariyeh [El ʽEizariya]) 2.5 km (1.5 mi) ESE of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.—See BETHANY No. 1.
