3 At this Esther the queen answered and said: “If I have found favor in your eyes, O king, and if to the king it does seem good, let there be given me my own soul*+ at my petition and my people+ at my request.

3 Then Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request:

3* And Queen Esther answered “If I am in favor with the king and if the king thinks best, let me be given my life as the thing I ask for and my people as the boon I want; for we have been sold, I and my people, to be killed, destroyed, rooted out.
