13. As shown by Paul and in certain proverbs, to what can the greedy “desire of the eyes” lead?

¹³ The greedy “desire of the eyes” can lead to dishonesty, envy, covetousness and other sins meriting God’s disapproval. As Paul said, “greedy persons” are among those who will not “inherit God’s kingdom.” (1 Corinthians 6:9, 10) Appropriately, too, wise proverbs warn: “A man of faithful acts will get many blessings, but he that is hastening to gain riches will not remain innocent.
