Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.

While it may not be easy to be spoken of abusively by former associates because we shun such things, we surely have nothing to gain by joining them in their wild parties and their unbridled way of life.
