6. What attitude should we show toward knowledge of God?

⁶ To begin with, we find this exhortation: “My son, if you will receive my sayings and treasure up my own commandments with yourself,

(Proverbs 2:1,

What do we learn from these words? That the responsibility falls on us individually. Note the supposition “if you will receive my sayings.” That is a big “if” because most of mankind pay no attention to God’s Word. For us to find joy in studying God’s Word, we must be willing to receive Jehovah’s sayings and treat them like a treasure that we do not wish to lose. We should never allow our daily routine to cause us to become so busy or distracted that we begin to treat God’s Word with indifference, even with misgivings.​—Romans 3:3, 4.
