Good counsel for both husbands and wives is found at Ephesians 5:21-33, 1 Timothy 2:9-15, and 1 Peter 3:1-12.

So doing, they follow Peter’s inspired advice: “You wives, be in subjection to your own husbands.” (1 Peter 3:1)

By applying the principle outlined at 1 Peter 3:1, that husbands may be “won without a word.”

We must fortify our spirituality.​—1 Peter 3:1-4, 7; Colossians 2:18.

Likewise, a newly converted husband may in time win over his wife. (1 Peter 3:1-7)

This certainly should exclude anything that might distress or harm one’s mate.​—Ephesians 5:28-30; 1 Peter 3:1, 7.

That is why the apostle Peter encouraged Christian wives: “Be in subjection to your own husbands, in order that, if any are not obedient to the word, they may be won without a word through the conduct of their wives, because of having been eyewitnesses of your chaste conduct together with deep respect.”​—1 Pet. 3:1, 2.

(b) If a Christian wife heeds the counsel of 1 Peter 3:1, 2, what should her unbelieving husband be able to see?

Yes, “all of you gird yourselves with lowliness of mind.”​—1 Pet. 2:13-18; 3:1-5; 5:5.

And at all times Christians are to be “ready to make a defense before everyone that demands of [them] a reason for the hope in [them], but doing so together with a mild temper and deep respect.”​—1 Pet. 2:9, 12; 3:1, 2; 3:15.

The advice of the brothers was to continue living with him and be a model wife, as stated in 1 Peter 3:1, 2, so as to win him over to the truth.

Note the opening words of First Peter chapter 3: “In like manner, you wives, be in subjection to your own husbands.”

Recall what we read earlier from 1 Peter 3:1, 2?

If fear is to be shown to slaveowners and to husbands and to judges, police and public investigators, then why not to political rulers? (1 Pet. 2:18; 3:1, 2; 3:15; Eph. 5:33)

A Christian husband gives honor to his wife as to a weaker vessel, the feminine one; but the wife is under apostolic command to give fear to her husband as to her head and lord. (1 Pet. 3:1, 5, 6; Eph. 5:33)
