Apparently they had never seen a black person before and were intrigued by the striking differences.

Yet, there are still many persons who feel that differences in the races are so great that they warrant racial segregation.

Physical Differences

Some of the physical differences between men and women are evident.

But how basic are the differences in the sexes?

What do these differences mean?

So while the two persons do not bring the same strengths and abilities to marriage, the differences would balance each other.

Inheritance, many will point out, has a lot to do with racial differences.

Theodosius Dobzhansky, an American biologist, made this telling observation: “The race differences in the averages are much smaller than the variations within any race.

The Differences Superficial

Much has been written about the differences in body structure of blacks and whites.

Such physical differences distinguish one race from another.

These latter identifications refer less to physical characteristics than to geographical, national, or cultural differences.

Conspicuous Differences

Important differences appear also with reference to the effect of the Flood.

When we view the billions of persons on earth, with their striking differences in appearance and personality, we may say, ‘How could this be true?’

These processes account for the fact that a person may have a “double”​—one who greatly resembles him in appearance—​although major differences will be found in many respects.

Melville Jacobs and Bernhard J. Stern, in their book General Anthropology, observed: “Few notions regarding race differences are more widely believed than the idea that each race has its distinctive odor.”

Still, the claim has been made, even by a university scholar, that one of the most outstanding of racial differences is body odor.

It also means that in spite of all observable differences, “every nation of men” has the same potential as far as abilities and intelligence are concerned.

If the Bible view is correct, there is hope that all the prejudices and injustices based on racial differences can be eliminated.

For decades, the Church of England has been trying to reconcile its differences with Rome.

Nevertheless, there are differences between men and women in the congregation.

“But evidence from recent brain research indicates that some behavioural differences between men and women are based on differences in brain functioning that are biologically inherent and unlikely to be changed by cultural factors alone,” says neurologist Richard Restak of Georgetown University School of Medicine.

When applied exactly as laid out, and in the proper attitude, this way resolves differences justly.

But here Jesus was not referring to trivial differences.
