12 You will rejoice before Jehovah your God,+ you and your sons, your daughters, your male and female slaves, and the Levite inside your cities,* for he has not been given a share or an inheritance with you.+

17 Thus all those of the congregation who had come back from the captivity made booths and were dwelling in the booths, for the Israelites had not done it this way from the days of Joshua+ the son of Nun until that day, so that there was very great rejoicing.+

18 This is what I have seen to be good and proper: that one should eat and drink and find enjoyment for all the hard work+ at which he toils under the sun during the few days of life that the true God has given him, for that is his reward.*+
