4 The king then ordered Hil·kiʹah+ the high priest, the priests of the second rank, and the doorkeepers to bring out from the temple of Jehovah all the utensils made for Baʹal, for the sacred pole,*+ and for all the army of the heavens. Then he burned them outside Jerusalem on the terraces of Kidʹron, and he took their ashes to Bethʹel.+

6 He brought the sacred pole*+ out from the house of Jehovah to the outskirts of Jerusalem, to the Kidʹron Valley, and he burned it+ in the Kidʹron Valley and ground it to dust and scattered its dust on the graves of the common people.+

16 Aʹsa the king even removed Maʹa·cah+ his grandmother from her position as queen mother,* because she had made an obscene idol for the worship of the sacred pole.*+ Aʹsa cut down her obscene idol and pulverized it and burned it in the Kidʹron Valley.+
