10 The scepter* will not turn aside from Judah,+ neither the commander’s staff* from between his feet,* until Shiʹloh* comes;+ and to him the obedience of the peoples will belong.*+

11 As for King David, he sent to Zaʹdok+ and A·biʹa·thar+ the priests, saying: “SPEAK to the older men of Judah,+ saying, ‘Why should YOU become the last ones to bring the king back to his house, when the word of all Israel itself has come to the king at his house?

42 At this all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel: “Because the king is closely related to us;*+ and why is it that you have become angry over this thing? Have we eaten at all at the king’s expense, or has a gift been carried to us?”
