13 Then He said to Aʹbram: “Know for certain that your offspring* will be foreigners in a land not theirs and that the people there will enslave them and afflict them for 400 years.+

7 Jehovah added: “I have certainly seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and I have heard their outcry because of those who force them to work; I well know the pains they suffer.+

15 Our fathers went to Egypt,+ and we dwelled in Egypt many years,*+ and the Egyptians mistreated us and our fathers.+

6 And the Egyptians mistreated and oppressed us and imposed harsh slavery on us.+
