40 Then they will confess their own error+ and the error and unfaithfulness of their fathers and admit that they behaved unfaithfully by walking in opposition to me.+

6 And I said: “O my God, I feel ashamed and embarrassed to raise my face to you, O my God, for our errors have multiplied over our heads and our guilt has mounted up to the heavens.+

8 “O Jehovah, to us belongs shame,* to our kings, our princes, and our forefathers, because we have sinned against you.
