16 Likewise, these are the ones sown on rocky ground; as soon as they have heard the word, they accept it with joy.+ 17 Yet they have no root in themselves, but they continue for a time; then as soon as tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, they are stumbled.

13 Those on the rock are the ones who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy, but these have no root. They believe for a while, but in a season of testing, they fall away.+
