SHOBAL

(Shoʹbal).

1. A Horite sheik, son of Seir, and himself the father of five sons.​—Ge 36:20, 23, 29; 1Ch 1:38, 40.

2. A son of Hur descended from Caleb of the tribe of Judah. A number of descendants are credited to Shobal, including the inhabitants of Kiriath-jearim and other towns.​—1Ch 2:50, 52, 53; 4:1, 2.
