JUNE 8-14

JEREMIAH 4-6

Song 56 and Prayer | Opening Comments (1 min.)

TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

1. Learn From Judah’s Spiritual Sickness

(10 min.)

The people of Judah were stubborn and rebellious (Jer 4:4, 14; w13 3/15 9-10 ¶8-9)

They were not interested in receiving Jehovah’s diagnosis of their spiritual condition (Jer 5:31; jr 114 ¶2)

They faced disaster because they ignored Jehovah’s warnings (Jer 6:17-19)

ASK YOURSELF, ‘How can I avoid becoming spiritually sick?’

Collage: 1. A sister meditates on what she read while doing personal study using a Bible, a tablet, and the “Insight” volumes. 2. A clinician points to a diagram of the human body on her tablet.

If you were seriously ill, would you not want an accurate diagnosis so that you could be treated in time? Spiritually speaking, would you not want the same?

2. Spiritual Gems

8. Protect Your Heart From Misinformation

(8 min.) Discussion.

In ancient Israel, false prophets and seers spread dangerous but appealing misinformation. (Isa 30:10; Jer 5:31) Similarly, those who spread misinformation today often try to appeal to the heart. How can you protect yourself?

A scene from the video “Protect Yourself From Misinformation.” A young boy surrounded by a lot of messages from different types of electronic media.
A scene from the video “Protect Yourself From Misinformation.” The same young boy inspecting information on a laptop, using a large magnifying glass.

Play the VIDEO Protect Yourself From Misinformation. Then ask the audience:

  • Why is misinformation dangerous?

  • What is deepfake technology, and why do we need to be aware of it?

  • How can we put information to the test?—Job 12:11

ASK YOURSELF: ‘Do I tend to trust only information that confirms what I want to believe? Or do I keep my biases in check?’

Internet news and social media feeds are often customized to our interests and browsing history. So you may need to dig deeper to find reliable information.
