JEREMIAH 45-46

Song 21 and Prayer | Opening Comments (1 min.)

TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

1. Hope Is Key to Contentment

(10 min.)

Baruch apparently became discontent with his situation in life (Jer 45:3; w25.07 22-23 ¶8-9)

If we become discontent, we may lose our joy and make bad decisions (w25.07 20 ¶2)

Jehovah helped Baruch to refocus by giving him hope (Jer 45:5; w25.07 24 ¶13-14)

An elderly brother sitting in his home and meditating on a picture of Paradise displayed on his tablet. Beside him are a walker and several bottles of medication.

LIVING AS CHRISTIANS

Song 117

8. “Share What You Have With Others”

(15 min.) Discussion.

In his letters, the apostle Paul often highlighted the importance of sharing. His advice was timely back then, and it remains relevant today.—Eph 4:28; 1Ti 6:17, 18.

Read Hebrews 13:16. Not long after receiving Paul’s counsel, Christians in Judea had to flee to the mountains, leaving behind their homes, work, and many of their belongings. At that time, there was likely an urgent need for all Christians to share what they had with one another.

  • How would Christians have benefited from applying Paul’s counsel?

  • Considering the events that lie ahead, why are we wise to learn to share now?

Read 2 Corinthians 8:2-4. (study note on 2Co 8:2, nwtsty)

  • What lessons can we learn from the Macedonians’ example?

  • Besides material things, what else can we share with others?

Play the VIDEO Become Jehovah’s Friend—Be Kind and Share. Then ask the audience:

  • What example does Jehovah set when it comes to sharing?
