a The Scriptures use “light” in a number of symbolic or figurative ways. For example, the Bible associates God with light. (Psalm 104:1, 2; 1 John 1:5) Spiritual enlightenment from God’s Word is likened to light. (Isaiah 2:3-5; 2 Corinthians 4:6) During his ministry on earth, Jesus was a light.
