BIBLE PHRASE
“If Possible, . . . Be Peaceable With All Men”
True Christians try to keep the peace with everyone, but this may not always be possible. What may make it difficult for us to “be peaceable with all men”?a—Rom. 12:18.
Unbelieving relatives, workmates, or others may pressure us to ignore the Bible’s moral standards or to share in celebrations or customs that dishonor Jehovah. When they do, we stand firm for what is right. We never compromise our beliefs, even if others get upset and try to disrupt our peace. However, no matter how people might react, we do what we can to seek peace by speaking with mildness and respect. By being peaceable, we may even move some to accept the truth.—2 Tim. 2:24, 25; 1 Pet. 3:15.
a A peaceable person promotes peace where it is lacking.
