23. How does ‘the whole world lie in the wicked one’s power’?

²³ Since anointed ones have evidence that they are spiritual sons of Jehovah, they can say, “We know we originate with God.” The fact that they have faith in Christ and do not practice sin proves that they are God’s children on whom Satan has not been able to “fasten his hold.” “But the whole world [unrighteous human society] is lying in the power of the wicked one,” Satan the Devil. (Ephesians 2:1, 2; Revelation 12:9) The world yields to Satan’s wicked influence and domination, making no effort to break free so as to do the divine will.
