³ The apostle Paul helps us to understand what a spiritual person is by drawing a contrast between a “spiritual man” and “a physical man.” (Read 1 Corinthians 2:14-16.)

14. How is having the mind of Christ involved in our preaching?

¹⁴ None of us would view the mind of Christ as unique to the first century​—to Jesus and the early disciples of whom the apostle Paul wrote: “We do have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16)

But we do have the mind of Christ.”​—1 CORINTHIANS 2:16.

These four inspired accounts enable us to peer into what the apostle Paul referred to as “the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16)

But we can better understand God’s thinking by studying “the mind of Christ” because Jesus perfectly reflects the thinking of his Father.​—1 Cor. 2:16 and study note “we do have the mind of Christ.”

Jehovah also provides his holy spirit to help us have “the mind of Christ.” (1 Cor. 2:14-16)

The more we understand Jehovah’s will and cultivate “the mind of Christ,” the more likely we will walk “as wise persons,” even when we do not have specific rules to guide our conduct. (1 Cor. 2:14-16)

So we need to keep making our mind over by reading God’s Word, learning to think as he thinks, and then doing whatever is necessary to bring ourselves in line with Jehovah’s will.​—1 Cor. 2:14-16.

The better we know and imitate his way of thinking, the closer our friendship with him will be. (1 Cor. 2:16)

Loyal elders, such as the two who visited Julian, can help us to know “the mind of Christ,” that is, to understand and imitate his thinking and attitude. (1 Cor. 2:16; 1 Pet. 2:21)

The rest of the Christian Greek Scriptures​—written by men who were inspired by holy spirit and who had “the mind of Christ”—​further help us to understand Jesus’ thinking on matters.​—1 Cor. 2:16.

On the other hand, the spiritual person understands God’s viewpoint as well as the erroneous course of the physical man. (1 Cor. 2:14-16; 3:1-3)

They take that position because they have neither the faith nor the understanding of how faith works. (1 Cor. 2:14-16)

Appropriately, the Bible asks the rhetorical question: “Who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”​—1 Corinthians 2:16, English Standard Version.

The apostle Paul wrote: “Who has come to know the mind of Jehovah, that he may instruct him?” (1 Cor. 2:16)

Because it can transform our thinking, so that it resembles the mind of Christ. (Rom. 12:2; 1 Cor. 2:16)

16. What is involved in having “the mind of Christ”?

¹⁶ To receive God’s spirit, we must develop in ourselves “the mind of Christ.” (1 Cor. 2:16)

As followers of Christ, we also want to harmonize our viewpoint with his. (Read Romans 15:5; 1 Cor. 2:16)

They became familiar with “the mind of Christ,” understanding and imitating his way of thinking and acting.​—1 Cor. 2:16.

But we do have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16)

Yet, anger is damaging and does not reflect “the mind of Christ.” (1 Cor. 2:16; read James 1:19, 20.)
