8. As indicated at Ephesians 5:22-24, why does a Christian wife choose to be in subjection to her husband?

⁸ A Christian wife chooses to be in subjection to her husband because that is what Jehovah asks of her. (Read Ephesians 5:22-24.)

Take Ephesians chapter 5 as a case in point.

¹⁵ Husbands and wives who base their union on Jesus’ example in dealing with his congregation show gratitude for God’s gift of marriage. (Read Ephesians 5:22-25.)

“The Christ is head of the congregation, he being a savior of this body.”​—EPH. 5:23.

A brother is not the head of all sisters in the congregation; Christ is. (Read Ephesians 5:23.)

Think about the Bible’s counsel for husbands, wives, parents, and children. (Eph. 5:22–6:4)

What we can learn from the metaphors of darkness and light mentioned in Ephesians chapter 5.

Their children enjoy being raised in the loving atmosphere of a Christian home, where they feel secure and loved.​—Eph. 5:22-29.

 5. How can a wife show consideration for her husband?

⁵ When a husband looks to his head, Jesus Christ, as a role model, he helps his wife to cultivate “deep respect” for him. (Eph. 5:22-25, 33)

The elders also gave the couple some practical suggestions on how they could work together to have family worship with their two children. (Eph. 5:21-29)

Likewise, an unbelieving wife should be shown self-sacrificing love and tender affection by her Christian husband.​—Eph. 5:22, 23, 28, 29.

That is quite different from the way of the world, but it is the way of life under Jehovah’s rulership. (Eph. 5:22, 23; 6:1-3; Heb. 13:17)

But she also needs to think about wifely subjection and being reasonable. (Eph. 5:22-24; Phil. 4:5)

⁴ Focusing on the personal duties of each marriage mate, Paul wrote: “Let wives be in subjection to their husbands as to the Lord, because a husband is head of his wife just as the Christ is head of the congregation.” (Eph. 5:22, 23)
