Jesus had previously proved his power to bring the dead back to life. (Luke 7:11-17; 8:40-56)

Moreover, as the experience of Lazarus indicates, Jesus Christ is both willing and able to resurrect the dead. (Compare Luke 7:11-17; 8:40-56)

When Jesus healed the woman who had a flow of blood, he showed that Jehovah’s justice means understanding the spirit as well as the letter of the law. (Luke 8:43-48)

When a woman who had suffered from a flow of blood for 12 years touched his garments and was healed, Jesus said to her: “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go your way in peace.” (Luke 8:43-48)

Faith healers of today are fond of citing Jesus’ statement to a woman suffering 12 years from a flow of blood who came to him for cure: “Your faith has made you well.” (Luke 8:43-48)

Jesus dealt with her in a kindly and reassuring manner. (Luke 8:43-48)

Later in Luke’s Gospel you will learn about: The prophetess Anna; the widow of Nain; the woman who had been a sinner but who washed Jesus’ feet with her tears; the women who ministered to Christ from their belongings; Jesus’ healing of the woman who had long been bleeding; the domestic interaction between Martha and Mary; the “daughter of Abraham” crippled for 18 years and the parables of the woman who lost a coin and the widow and the judge.​—Luke 2:36-38; 7:11-15, 36-50; 8:1-3, 43-48; 10:38-41; 13:11-16; 15:8-10; 18:2-8.

This clearly does not mean that she did this before the entire city population (possibly Capernaum) but before those in the crowd who happened to be there and who heard Jesus ask: “Who was it that touched me?”​—Luke 8:43-47.

Similarly, Jesus resurrected the daughter of Jairus, one of the presiding officers of the synagogue at Capernaum. (Matt. 9:18-26; Mark 5:21-43; Luke 8:40-56)

Luke writes of this as the case of a “woman, subject to a flow of blood for twelve years, who had not been able to get a cure from anyone.”​—Luke 8:43-48.

In the eighth chapter of Luke we find an example of Christian women giving material assistance to Christ and his apostles, that the Christian ministry might continue from village to village and city to city.

It holds true also for the dead whom Jesus and his apostles restored to life in the flesh on earth: Jairus’ daughter, the widow of Nain’s son, Lazarus the brother of Mary and Martha, Dorcas (Tabitha) of Joppa, and Eutychus of Troas.
