13, 14. What stand do we need to take when opposed by Satan?

¹³ Paul urged fellow believers to “stand firm against the machinations of the Devil.” (Ephesians 6:11)

Happy family members make an earnest effort to promote kindness and consideration for one another.​—Colossians 3:8, 12-14.

²² May all of us be kind to others each day and thus individually apply the words of the apostle Paul: “As God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with the tender affections of compassion, kindness, lowliness of mind, mildness, and long-suffering.”​—Colossians 3:12.

We need to cultivate such tender qualities as fellow feeling, brotherly affection, and kindness. (Read Colossians 3:12; 1 Peter 3:8.)

According to Colossians 3:12 and 1 Peter 3:8, what other qualities must we cultivate to maintain the love that moves us to comfort others?

We also look for opportunities to be generous and hospitable to all in the congregation, even to those who may have offended us. (Read Colossians 3:12-14.)

To strengthen our desire to reach that goal, we will consider several aspects of the new personality that the apostle Paul was inspired to write about. (Read Colossians 3:10-14.)

(b) What aspects of the new personality are recorded at Colossians 3:10-14?

“Continue putting up with one another and forgiving one another freely even if anyone has a cause for complaint against another.” (Col. 3:12-14)

Applying the Bible instruction just cited, Colossians 3:12-14, may be a good starting point if someone hurts you.

Jehovah has given us what we need to “stand firm” and “quench all the wicked one’s burning missiles”!​—Eph. 6:11, 16.

Absolutely no one is immune to Satan’s “crafty acts.” (Ephesians 6:11, footnote)

In fact, he has given you everything you need to counteract Satan’s attempts to mislead you.​—Proverbs 3:1-6; Ephesians 6:10-18.

He followed the counsel found at Ephesians 6:11, 12: “Put on the complete suit of armor from God . . . because we have a wrestling . . . against the wicked spirit forces.”

Protect yourself from the demons by putting on “the complete suit of armor from God.” (Ephesians 6:11)

It was Paul who admonished fellow Christians: “Clothe yourselves with the tender affections of compassion, kindness, lowliness of mind, mildness, and long-suffering.”​—Colossians 3:12.

Following the example and the advice of Paul, we will see the wisdom of ‘clothing ourselves with lowliness of mind.’​—Colossians 3:12.

Take up the complete suit of armor from God, that you may be able to resist in the wicked day and, after you have done all things thoroughly, to stand firm.”​—Ephesians 6:10, 11, 13.

Our being active in the Christian ministry is a protection against Satan’s “machinations,” or “crafty acts.”​—Ephesians 6:11; footnote.

Victory in the face of such odds depends on our wearing “the complete suit of armor from God.” (Ephesians 6:11-18)

We need all the protection God provides through his Word, his spirit, and his organization so that we “may be able to stand firm against the machinations of the Devil.” (Ephesians 6:11)

18. What spiritual armor equips us to oppose the Devil?

¹⁸ Jehovah has supplied us with a full suit of spiritual armor to enable us “to stand firm against the machinations of the Devil.” (Ephesians 6:11-18)
