A New Songbook!

The latter songbook made a special effort to break away from Babylonian sentimentality and creature worship.

The very first year Zion’s Watch Tower was published (1879) also saw the publication of a songbook, Songs of the Bride.

The newest songbook consists of twice as many pages as the previous songbook.

Then in 1928 a revised songbook with 337 songs was provided.

In 1944 Kingdom Service Songbook was provided, with 62 songs.

Those who have an ear for harmony or who can read the harmony lines in the songbook and voice them are encouraged to blend in with the singing and add to the beauty of the music.c

One of the highlights of the convention last year was the talk on Thursday “Music That Praises Jehovah,” during which not only was the thrilling announcement made about a forthcoming new songbook but excerpts of nine beautiful melodies were also played, giving a foretaste of what the new songbook would be like.

The Society is preparing a new songbook, to be ready in the near future!

Three groups of melodies were played as samples, and all music heard before each morning and afternoon session will be found in the new songbook.
