Because, when being sworn in with upraised right hand, he had his left hand resting upon two family Bibles, held one on top of the other by his wife and opened at the prophecy of Isaiah, chapter two, verse four, which reads: “And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”

Also later, in the second and third centuries C.E., there were professing Christians who recognized that there had been a fulfillment of Isaiah 2:4 in their case.

The prophecies of Isaiah, chapter 2, and Revelation, chapter 7, correspond therefore to Haggai’s prophecy which shows that after God restores his “house” or temple of worship, he will shake the nations and bring the ‘treasures,’ ‘treasured ones,’ or ‘desirable ones’ of the nations into the house and fill it with splendor.—Hag. 1:7, 8; 2:7-9.

Consider the import of Isa 2 verses 2 and 3 as they relate to Isa 2 verse 4.

It was an example of how the 20th century, far from ushering in a time when man would ‘learn war no more,’ has seen a tremendous growth in both the weapons and the arenas of warfare. (Isaiah 2:2-4)

Swords will be beaten into plowshares, spears into pruning shears, and ‘they will not learn war anymore.’​—Psalm 46:8, 9; Isaiah 2:4.

The obvious evidences of divine blessing on them have motivated multitudes of honesthearted people to act in harmony with the prophecy at Isaiah 2:2-4.

(b) How is Isaiah 2:2-4 now undergoing fulfillment?

Neither shall they learn war any more.”​—Quoted from Isaiah 2:4.

Rather, by the study and application of the Scriptures, they ‘learn God’s ways and walk in his paths.’ (Isaiah 2:3, 4)

We find this stated, as if for emphasis, in two related Bible prophecies, at Isaiah 2:2-5 and Micah 4:1-5.
