² Regarding the future of the human family, in whom do people trust to bring about better conditions?

11. In whom were Paul’s trust, that of Jesus, that of the psalmist and that of the proverbialist?

15. In whom should we put our full trust, and why?

¹⁵ The inability of humans to bring true freedom in the important things of life emphasizes what is said in the Bible at Jeremiah 10:23: “To earthling man his way does not belong.

A study of God’s Word not only gives us a sound basis for faith in him and in his promises but it also weans us away from putting faith in feeble, imperfect man.

Accordingly, the Bible soundly advises: “Do not put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs.

20. (a) Why will desired goals never come about by human efforts? (b) In whom should we put our trust for the future?

²⁰ Such observers do not realize it, but the whole social and political system is going to be “replaced by a fundamentally different one”!

 3. Despite failure till now, what do political rulers do, and what must people do individually?

³ In view of the glaring failure it is time for man to draw some conclusion and decide upon the wise course of action.

If political rulers refuse to take the right lead for the people, then the people must individually do so for themselves.

“Do not put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs.”​—PSALM 146:3.

 3. God’s Word gives what counsel as to where we should place our trust?

³ God’s Word most fittingly counsels us: “Do not put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs.

7, 8. (a) After thousands of years of human experience, what did the psalmist say about putting our trust? (b) What does the psalmist say on the positive side of this matter?

⁷ Thousands of years of human experience had already passed when an inspired man wrote: “Do not put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs.

Such truth is not presented in a complex, difficult-to-comprehend manner in the Bible.

Is it not that we were designed and created by an all-powerful, intelligent Maker so that we could live forever? (Job 10:8; Psalm 36:9; 100:3; Malachi 2:10; Acts 17:24, 25)

Therefore, should we not wisely heed the inspired command of the Bible psalmist: “Do not put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs”?

¹⁴ At Jeremiah 10:23, we read the words of the inspired prophet: “I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong.

It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.”

14. Why should we let God talk to us, and what caution does he give against other sources of information?

¹⁴ It is readily discerned, then, that knowledge of Jehovah God and His Word must be possessed in order to have true assuredness.

To get acquainted With him we must let him talk to us; not orally, of course, but through the written pages of the Bible.

God’s inspired Word, the Bible, wisely counsels: “Do not put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs.” (Ps. 146:3)

Men have leaned on their own understanding instead of following God’s wisdom as revealed in the Bible.

Long ago the Bible, God’s Word, warned: “Trust in Jehovah with all your heart and do not lean upon your own understanding.”

However, in spite of all the efforts and prayers of men and nations for the past nineteen centuries men have not succeeded in providing that government.

The Bible wisely says: “Do not put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs.”

This fact is confirmed by these statements in the Bible book of Psalms: “The dead themselves do not praise Jah, nor do any going down into silence.” (Psalm 115:17)

One reason you risk so much when you trust in a human institution is that man himself has such limited power, foresight and life.

What have they got that other people do not have?

12. Why is it futile to trust in human leaders for survival?

Because it is seeking security in the wrong direction and in the wrong manner.
