We recall that the ancient Jubilee was a festival year of liberty​—Israelites who had sold themselves into slavery were freed and hereditary lands were returned. (Leviticus 25:8-54)

Following this there are regulations involving abuse of Jehovah’s holy name, the observance of Sabbaths (weekly, monthly and every seventh year) and of the Jubilee, conduct toward poor Israelites and the treatment of slaves.​—Leviticus 23:1–25:55.

And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.”—Lev. 25:9, 10.

Then you will certainly dwell on the land in security.”​—LEVITICUS 25:10-12, 18.

A case in point was the discontinuance of the Jubilee on the grounds that for fear of losing his claim as that period approached, no one would lend to the poor.​—Leviticus, chapter 25.

Hence, there would never be any families who would indefinitely get richer and richer, while others got poorer and poorer.​—Chapters 23 and 25.

A family’s property, for instance, could not be taken from them indefinitely. (See Leviticus chapter 25.)

Christ’s presence was thought to have begun in October 1874, at the start of the great antitypical Jubilee.​—Lev. chap. 25; Rev. 20:4.a
