Jesus, by being nailed to the stake as a criminal, sentenced (though unjustly) by the Jewish priestly court, in effect became “a curse,” and thereby not only was the Law with its decrees nailed to the stake and canceled, but the curse or malediction accompanying it was legally removed as well.
